This program includes all the necessary equipment to start your amazing diving experience including a mask, snorkel, fins and booties, a jacket type BCD, a scuba tank and a scuba regulator.. Depending on the area, you may experience this tour wearing a scuba diving wetsuit.
Discovery Scuba Diving
It's no longer necessary to have a diving license to discover the magic under the sea of the Galapagos Islands; experiencing the Discovery Scuba Diving tour is a fun, easy way for you to familiarize yourself with the diving procedures. Furthermore, you will be amazed when you realize that you are witnessing beautiful scenery while diving in places that are not so deep.
Because of the close proximity to Santa Cruz, your dive location will not be confirmed in Academy Bay until the day of departure. The destination alternatives are:
Punta Estrada, one of the calmer areas for someone who has never gone underwater before and wants to ease into the process via a Discovery Scuba Diving tour. In this place you will probably see golden rays or white-tipped reef sharks resting in abundance. As this is also a sea turtle canyon, you will dive with green sea turtles.
Caamaño Islet is where you will find many tropical fish, marine iguanas and playful sea lions. Swim among them!
Punta Nuñez Cliffs offers you lava rock cliffs with underwater lava tunnels forming wonderful caves to explore, where you will find sea turtles, stingrays, tropical fish, white-tipped reef sharks and sometimes manta rays.
El Bajo is in a location where the ocean currents are usually calm. This is a submarine platform that has mini-walls and a great quantity of marine life such as large schools of reef fish, rays, white-tipped reef sharks and sea turtles.
Outside Academy Bay
Other incredible diving sites outside of Academy Bay that you can observe are:
Seymour, where you will see schools of hammerheads, loads of snappers and other fish, turtles, morays, manta rays and white-tipped reef sharks, sea lions, and garden eels.
Mosquera Islet has the largest colony of garden eels, mantas, sea turtles, and white-tipped reef sharks. There might be hammerheads schools and eagle rays, in addition to an ample number of tropical fish and many sea lions.
